Ten Tips For Increasing Your Life Energy
1. Be engaged. Move outward into the world.
As living organisms, people expand and contract. In terms of energy, health is about expanding and interacting with the world. By contrast, a contracted withdrawal from the world is associated with anxiety, resignation, or depression. You can increase your energy by being vitally involved in the world. Let your work really work for you.
2. Notice Nature
Get outdoors or at least look out the window. Can you see the movement of air? Do you see evidence of the change of seasons? Can you find a surprise - something you didn't expect? We are part of nature, and when we're healthy nature moves through us. Appreciating nature connects us with the world of moving life energy.
3. Move your eyes. Stir it up.
Look away from your computer and scan the room with your eyes. Feel the pleasure of exercising your eye muscles. Look at something in the distance and something up close. Keeping your eyes active helps you keep things in perspective and improves your emotional energetic contact with yourself and others.
4. Breathe deeply on purpose.
Breathe in up to the top of your head. Then breathe out down to the bottoms of your feet. Can you feel the rush? We take in life energy from the atmosphere with our breathing. Shallow breathing limits our aliveness and keeps a lid on intolerable emotions. Escape from the pernicious cycle of shallow breathing and emotional armor.
5. Avoid dull or draining energy.
Break away from your computer and put water on your face. Find a way to break up the logjam in a relationship that drags you down. Be straight with people. See friends or movies that increase your energy. Get your exercise. Eat the freshest, best food that you can. Choices like these enhance your positive life energy.
6. Soak in water.
Water has the power to pull dead energy out of our bodies. Shower and wash your hair frequently. Bathe with your head under water to draw out dull energy that has been loosened up. Use water to keep your rooms, clothes, and bedding nice and fresh. Keep a bowl with a wet washcloth near your computer so you can freshen up your energy.
7. Give babies some respect.
Healthy babies are full of vital life energy. Don't suppress infants' aliveness with swaddling or circumcision. Be supportive when a baby expresses true, deep powerful emotions such as when they cry. They need to let it out. Pay attention to your baby's limits and protect him or her from things that would be overwhelming. Watch and learn.
8. Don't be a wet blanket.
When you see people with more energy or freer energy than your own, don't be tempted to tear them down or control their lives. Instead, learn something from people who get more satisfaction from life so you can have a fuller life yourself. People are often tempted to put a lid on children's lively energy, far beyond the needs of discipline.
9. Let a loved one move you.
Our energy gets stuck and then stale when we suppress our emotions. A friend's energy can help get your energy moving again. So have a heart to heart conversation. Perhaps you can even have a good cry. Or keep a pet. Without any words at all, pets offer healthy, natural life energy to move and refresh your own. Let yourself be moved.
10. Think what's most important.
The one thing that people usually want most is love. Keeping in touch with what is most important to you keeps you in touch with your core energy. Be perfectly honest with yourself about what you are doing to undermine your most important goals. Keep your eye on your own part in these problems, talk openly, and make needed changes.
